Original TDA-style thinking example

In a story, Lena fails to build a kite on her first attempt, studies where the frame bent, changes the design, and succeeds. What idea could you analyze about Lena?

Show a strong reasoning model

Claim: Lena demonstrates persistence through problem solving. Evidence: she studies the failure instead of quitting. Explanation: using the failure to change her design shows persistence is active problem solving, not simply trying the same thing again.

Original Math example

A rectangular garden is 18 feet long and 7 feet wide. What is its area, and how can you verify the reasonableness of your answer?

Show a strong reasoning model

18 × 7 = 126 square feet. Since 20 × 7 = 140, 126 is reasonable because 18 is slightly less than 20.
